Comments: Well it's finally that time of year again boats are being uncovered and bottoms prepped for paint. Much work has been done to the docks in the off season and the are set to go in this Sunday, April 23rd. This is always an exciting day as it signals the unofficial start of the boating season. Let's make this another great year of growth for the club. Rick R.

Comments: It's almost time to start prepping boats for the new season. Work on the docks has gone well but more needs to be done to have them ready for docks in day. Stan will be sending out emails to let us know when work will resume. Let's put in a big effort to have them ready. Rick Robillard

Comments: The first trip to Wickford Marina for the air show, was a hit. only two boats were able to attend but many members drove up to join them. The Marina was very accommodating, the grounds were nice and clean and the people were friendly. The view of the show was great, without having to fight the crowds on the road or the water. Hopefully next year we will return and bring more boats and day visitors. Rick and Jean.

Comments: The 2015 Memorial Day Cookout at the Club was a good turn out. I would like to thank all those that made side dishes and deserts, help prepare, cook and serve the meal along side me. it seemed everyone ate well and had a good time. The weather was great a little windy but the grills stayed burning. It was nice to see the new pilings all in place knowing that we don't have to worry about what's holding the boats in place. In a few days we will get together and get the water and the electrical hooked up then get the word out to bring the boats in. It's certainly nice to have a good group of people willing to help each other out. I would like to thank all of you who gave up your Morial Day Monday and came down to work on the docks helping Al Kozatek and those that help me along with the Commodore I was able to get most of the damage under the Club done from this winter and clean out some trash that has accumulated there as well. Thank you all Bob Bedard

Comments: I have to say that this has been a fantastic summer at the club. Everyone participating in the activities from impromptu dinners to the planned activities, it's great to see involvement from many people. Bob Bedard did a great job as usual with the chicken BBQ, Brian did a great job setting up the Brewers trip. the activities planning by Sue and all the others involved led to a fun experience had by all. Brewers is always a high point for the members and friends who attend. Jean and I can't wait for the rest of the years activities. Rick & Jean

Comments: August 21 - Great summer with lots of positive energy at the club with many recent events. Saturday's dingy run was a blast with 7 boats leaving the TYC for the trip and many others meeting us at the Inn for lunch. Wet and fun ride back riding the waves that just seem to pick up once we hit the water. Sunday's breakfast by the Fundraising Committee was busy and enjoyed by many. This coming weekend the Social Committee has a Chicken BBQ and next weekend we will all end the month of August with a long weekend at Brewers in Portsmouth, RI. ~ Sue&Howard

Comments: Wow ...2014 is going to be a GREAT year at the TYC! It's only mid-March and we have all the Committees working together to plan the full year's calendar. The calendar for 2014 will show all the social events, fundraisers and trips on one page so members can plan on attending those that interest them. On another note, everyone is already working hard to make April 12 "Docks In Day" a big success with plans underway to not only get the docks and moorings in, but to also do front yard landscaping and painting of the front sheds. Most members (well not the old timers) can't even remember the last time the front sheds were painted. Add in some donated landscaping shrubs and plans for a Spring vinyl siding of the front of the building! The club will look great for this summer!

Comments: I would like to say that the Turkey Raffle was a great time very well attended by the local neighbors and Members. I thought I had won a turkey on one spin turns out I pulled an old ticket out of my pocket boy you might have thought I was cheating but I was only testing the waters as they say. In all it was a great time good job to all that worked on it. On another note We decorated the club house this past Sunday afternoon (Dec 1) and we had a good turn out of Members that came to help everyone put their own touches in decorating, some watched a little football, and others cleaned or chatted a little it was a great day. The hall looks great. Some of us 12 total went out to dinner that evening at the Comfort Zone, located in Somerset after and had a great meal at a very reasonable price. Stop by the Club and take a look or better yet Come to the Breakfast Dec 8 and or the Christmas Party Dec 13 Yankee Swap, pot luck supper. Thanks again to all those that continue to help make the Club a great place to go to. Have a great Holiday Sincerely Bob Bedard Social Committee Chairperson

Comments: To all those members and some of their friends that work very hard last winter 2011-2012 to raise the floor and improvements made in the bar area. I received a lots of compliments from members of my family at our annual Christmas party. I never thought that I would like it but to hear family members compliment on it kind of changed my outlook. Comments: I am glad to see that John F. Kennedy is still alive, since he signed the TYC Guestbook. It is ONLY a joke, don't jump all over me for it. Just wanted to comment on what a great weekend we all had at Brewer's Marina on the Sakonnet. It was a lot of fun. Hopefully more people can join us for the next trip. Comments: ‘Vindictive passion is the intense feelings of resentment, anger, hatred, and the desire for revenge against those who wrong us and are an integral part of human nature’ (Beaumont, 2005-2009). Although a reasonable reaction to our perceived injury may be fitting, totally resigning yourself to these passions is an excuse to justify behavior that is outside the norm such as cruelty and can at times become violent. Boycotting a Social Committee event only hurts the club and I do not take it personally. I am reminded that vindictiveness may have the first word but never the last and smile quietly to myself. Comments: Congratulations to the FRC and the OSMc. The turnout was good we all need to do our best to support these type functions and recognize all the hard work that goes into these as well. Social committee also did a superb job supporting the run! Chuck

Comments: I agreee with Maria-Clara.It is unfortunate that the barbecue has to be cancelled do to "lack of interest". I have been to two other events this year.. and saw a very poor turnout at both ... The NESAR event was awful as you know "if you went" I really think and hope more or something can be done to bring this club back to a association where family and friends meet for gatherings and special times ...Rather that people joining for the convenience of fuel pump "access" and fuel discounts.

Comments: The club layout is essentially the same as it was before. If people feel that it looks like a bar, then they must have always felt that way. For the first time in a very long time, the club looks nice. I would be proud to bring my children there. Great job by all who pitched in!

submitted on March 11, 2012 6:27 PM EDT
Comments: Overall, the work at the club is an improvement and I may disagree with how things were done but at least I make sure that everyone hears what I have to say, let us say that I make use of my freedom of speech. At the TYC General Membership meetings is where comments need to be made so that the bridge and directors can hear the voice of the membership. Not all of the members have a vote but all of the members DO have a voice. Maria

submitted on March 11, 2012 6:08 PM EDT
Comments: It is too bad people can't just be happy with the improvements to the club. It does not look like a bar. It was nice to see all the members that took pride in working together to better the TauntonYacht Club. Hopefully we can all enjoy the summer on our boats with our families together.

submitted on March 11, 2012 10:09 AM EDT
Comments: All, while this site allows people to leave comments and opinions about functions and the clubhouse it should will not be used for personal comments. As for the bar atmosphere I disagree as people make the atmosphere not the structure. I personally love the improvements. Chuck

Comments: Anonymously critique a job that you did not have the time to be a part of, that most member think is a vast improvement. You are a coward.
