Wow, what a great post today. I was crying at the end when you mentioned mark seeing angels. I am glad that Mark had faith
and the golf course is a great place to talk to God...church doesn't always have to be the place for everyone to be with him
or speak to him. I will pray for you to dream about him! What a great feeling it will be the next time you wake up from a

The photo looks SO great! It's a really good thing to have his face there when you visit the grave ... I think that was a
really nice thing Scott did.
I remember how much Mark ate that weekend of his tournament ... holy cow!! he took us out for a seafood dinner and then there
was the run to Steak-n-Shake ... then when he had us get the people at the tournament make up six burgers after the party
was done, we said "six burgers Mark, you are crazy!" he said "Yeah, six. thanks sis." ... so I asked and they made them ...
then Mark said "I only wanted one but you guys all look hungry!" :)

I remember how excited Mark was to move to Memphis and start the new store--I think about him every time I go there now for
work. Jason, Ryan, James, Dennis and the "Chicago guys" are still there--we often find ourselves telling "Mark stories"---Last
time down, Ryan remembered how Mark and him would construct a makeshift "golf course" inside the store and knock balls around
the store during the slow times--(still a couple of "divots" in the carpeting, and "ball-marks" on the walls!) Mark was so
competitive, he was always making up games in the store, and man would he throw the "guff" around. He was masterful at the
"art" of trash-talking. If you were lucky enough to beat him, which wasn't very often, it was always "2-out-of-3" "3-out-of-
5" "double-or-nothing" until he won. Around the time he was moving to Memphis, I remember asking him if would miss playing
in the Annbriar Tuesday night golf league he and Tommy Irwin (Blarney Stone) played in the past couple of years. He looked
at me like I was crazy for asking and said--"I'm still playing- it's only 3 hours away--I'll work until 2pm, drive from Memphis
to Annbriar (Waterloo, IL) tee-off at 5 and be back to Tennessee by midnight and be back to work the next day"-(I think he
actually did it a couple of times, bout a 600 mile round trip)---I told him the way he drove, he could work until 4, drive
to Annbriar, tee-off at 5, play 18, go to the Blarney for a beer, then be back in Memphis by eleven! (Barb--the Fairview
store has a small, but neat tribute to Mark--they have his name badge hung on the employee board in the back room--pretty
cool. Tell Don I said hi, I'm working all over the place lately, going to Arizona for winter demo-days next week (rough assignment!)--we'll
catch up soon |
