the Concord from 1979-80, PC1 Bert (B-Dubs) Bosley passed away in 2015. Spent many years looking for him. We did have some
GOOD times!!! Spent 22 years in and retired in 1998. Married that little girl from Spain in 1980 and we're still going strong..42
years later, she's still the love of my life..loved pulling into Spain during the whole Med Cruise 1985-86...go figure!! |

Came aboard with many from the USS Piedmont (AD-17) after HIS decommissioning. Departed Concord following the '83 Med deployment.
The going joke at the time was that I was going to be 'An IS' and everyone thought I was going to NIS lol. I separated in
1987 as an Intelligence Specialist 2nd class after my tour at the Fleet Intelligence Center at CinCLant.

I really wanted to be present at the entire reunion in 2018 but the hurricane ended that also I can no afford to. To many
hurricane repair cost on my first home purchase in 2017 need to be obtained first. I am on a fixed income also VA care over
the years has not been so good so my health is not good. I live day to day or some times month to months and some times have
some pretty good ones :). I hope to drive down or maybe be driven to the Sat. night festivities the 16th in Charleston. I
have no teeth so eating is not a must (lol). To The Best Shipmates a man could have ever Served with. In which I had the Great

I'd like to know whether anyone knows how contact three other CONCORD crew members. First, Clay Hayden. He was a Lieutenant
when I was an Ensign/Ltjg. I relieved him as Navigator. He broke his ankle while jogging the main deck during our crossing
back to Norfolk from the Med in 1981. But the skipper let him be OOD during sea and anchor detail as we transmitted Hampton
Roads to the Ammo Anchorage to offload ordnance. Everything was fine until just before we reached the anchorage, then fog
set in. As Navigator, I knew how far from center of anchorage the ship was, so I waited a minute or so, recommended "back
full," gave LT Hayden wood chips to throw to the water, and told him when you sense no way on, order "all stop" and let go
the anchor. Soon after we anchored, the fog lifted. I had my QMs take a round of bearings. We were dead center in the anchorage.
The skipper and LT Hayden asked how the hell I did that. I told them, "Zen Navigation." The other is Tom Childs. I knew
him as an Ensign. Like LT Hayden, he was a Villanova grad. Funniest shipmate I ever knew. We enjoyed liberty in Palermo
and elsewhere, tasting the local foods and beverages. Nobody could do an impression of Curly of the Three Stooges better
than he. The third is LT John Fidrych. He was attached to CONCORD during my first deployment and taught me a LOT. I know
that he settled in Philadelphia after he left the Navy. He was Mark "The Bird" Fidrych's first cousin, and resembled him,
too. While I'm thinking of it, any info on LCDR Rick Buttina (he was OPS BOSS), and LCDR Bob Brittingham (1st Lieutenant)
would be greatly appreciated. |

Norm Wheeler! I pulled two guys out of Naples harbor, one from Concord and one from a submarine. The latter was so hammered,
when he jumped from my boat he landed on the cargo net and fell in the water. I had the officers boat but took enlisted also.

I loved my time on the CONCORD. I went from being 2nd Division Officer to COMMO, to CIC Officer to Navigator. I never served
under a bad Captain. I had some issues with my XOs, but even they recognized my abilities. Both went on to make Captain.
One went on to make Admiral. The most fun I ever had stateside on the CONCORD was the 300th (I think) anniversary of the
city of CONCORD, MA during 1980. SO MUCH FUN! The most fun I had while deployed aboard the CONCORD was when we visited Gibraltar.
The British army set there challenged the men of the CONCORD to "run the rock." A Quartermaster from the CONCORD beat them
all! What a great time! |

I reported for duty on the Concord May 17, 1968 in San Diego. I am a plank owner. Feb. 1969 passed through typhoon on the
way to Panama Canal and then Norfolk Virginia. Made the trip to GITMO for ship's training and later for our first departure
when we replenished the USS Yorktown. I was the captains phone talker. All these memories I still have and several pics. of
the original crew. I was transferred to CINCLANT FLT HQS. in Jun 1969 for the rest of my tour. |

My husband, Dean L. Troutman, is the veteran. Unfortunately he became very I'll shortly after his discharge, and passed away
