Ms. Vance,
I am writning in regards to Mrs. P.J. McCalla's 2 books and the way that I feel she's misrepresented. I
read your book, CHASING THE 400, and I
don't recall numerous mistakes, a boring cover (COUSIN MRYTLE) and uneven right hand margins. I'm an avid
reader and I've never seen a book that didn't have straight margins. The 2nd novel had at least 4 times the amount of errors
in it as the first one. I could list them all but don't wish to use my time this way. These mistakes unjustly reflect Mrs.
McCall's style; this is quite unfair to her. Mrs. McCalla has been a friend of the family for more than 60 years and she
is an extremely creative writer whose talent deserves to be respected on a grander scale than shown by your publishing company.
Your proofreader allows the following mistakes as well as a plethora of others. On page 98-
"...or you...", page 254-The prepares me for...", p 246-...gladly.:, page 178- "O,I was..." page 225- There was doubt... instead
of NO doubt. page 85-...tried to closed door... page 72- ...panic the ground...
These needless errors could prompt readers to thinkt that P. J. McCalla isn't 100% serious about her writng and it's presentation.
This is not the case. I believe that she's won awards for her work. These mistakes are both unfair and unexceptable from
a publishing complany with such a mission statement as yours I would think that the company and the writers want to shine
and prosper together.
Because I know Mrs. McCalla to be an outstanding person and a gifted writer who puts her heart into each page and gives her
characters deep meaning, I will encourage friends and family to continue to support her as she finds another publishing company.
Please accept these constructive remarks and
please provide a true representation of Mrs. McCalla.
Thank you.
