When i watched 'cost of project' i was surprised that it wasn't that bad. I hope you have some videos on youtube, i haven't try to search for you. Thank you, good luck and happy trails.

Comments: I found your journey from inception to completion very interesting. Although my funds are limited, I will have to look for a Volvo single axle. I have talked to my wife about buying an HDT and she still thinks we should get an MDT. We talked it over and still have to do a lot of homework on both sizes. We need to find the right vehicle that will tow our 40 ft. Toy hauler. Just by some of the articles I have read, an HDT seems to be the ticket. Good luck or your journeys.

Comments: Beautiful job. I had a similar idea with a bit of a twist. I am thinking about getting a used 48 foot moving van and converting that to the RV, While keeping the tractor somewhat stock. I am figuring on a pre-retirement shift to full time and using this as housing while I finish out my working years, then make the shift to full time vagabond. I am planning to configure the trailer with a car inside and the bed above and enough holding tank and propane to give me at least 30 days of boondocking capacity. I like the idea of building my own living space as most all of the RVs I have seen are difficult to service and are not constructed very well. In the beginning the rig will have a plain vanilla look allowing me a bit of stealth but still allow me to open the street side to be an awning and lower a deck when in camping mode. Any thoughts? Cordially, Roger Shoaf

I was searching rv sites and came across "rv haulers", this convinced me to go with a semi to pull a 5th wheel. I have since purchased a 2005 670 volvo and will be building a smart car bed for it. Same as yourself, it was a safety issue, towing the bigger 5th's. Great site, for others looking for ideas and making the dicission in investing into a heavy rv hauler.
