Comments: A few weeks ago we had a crab cake appetizer that was exquisite. Is there any way you could share the recipe with me? Or even direct me to a recipe on line that is close to yours?

Comments: Thanks so much for our 3 dinners this past week. It is extremely rare for us to go anywhere several times on a vacation. Your food was compelling and so amazing that all I can do is rave to everyone I know about your restaurant. Thanks so much!

Comments: What an unbelievably perfect meal! My husband and I were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary in Maine, and the B&B recommended dinner at Joshua's. I am thrilled they did! Every detail and morsel was simply scrumptious! The wait staff was attentive, knowledgable and friendly. The food, from the salads and appetizers through dessert, was impeccable. Hats off to the chef and his incredible work! Thank you for such an enjoyable and lovely evening. Michael and Kim McGowen, Albemarle, NC October 2015

Comments: We were extremely dissatisfied with the food we had in Maine until we dined at Joshua's this evening. Thank you for one of the best meals we have had in a very long time. Wait staff was just as impressive

Comments: We visit the Wells/Ogunquit Kennebunkport area 4 times a year and with every visit since 2006 we visit our favorite restaurant-Joshua's. What makes it so great? Besides the "world class food", it's Barbara who meets us, the wait staff with people like Christy (now the bar manager) and the relaxed atmosphere. We love Joshua's and would be upset if we couldn't visit 4 times a year!! Leslie and Glenn from CT

Comments: My husband and I enjoyed dinner for the first time at Joshua's last month. Our dinner was delicious. We are doing all of our cooking with locally sourced and organic ingredients as possible and using veggies, spices and herbs that help us fight my cancer diagnosis. We had a wonderfully prepared delicata squash with skin on of course. Wondering if you have a recipe for how you cook the delicata as it was both firm enough inside and tender enough with the skins. Thanks for the great meal as it was part of a special retreat at the Dunes for the night. Thanks for any recipe hints. Jennifer Norton norwille@comcast.net

Comments: We will be dinning at Joshua's this coming Saturday evening. Can't wait. We are fortunate enough to enjoy Joshua's twice each year, June and October. A must stop, no compromises!

Comments: Well, after viewing your website, I wish I had eaten here. I mistakenly called Jonathan's for a last minute reservation. NOT the resturant I remembered!! I've only been to you once before and it was fabulous. Next time I'll get it right because you're in my cell phone now

Comments: After making a reservation to stay in Ogunquit, our next call is for dinner at Joshua's. It was a bit tricky this July as we wanted to celebrate Gram's birthday with three generations of our family including kids 16, 10 & 10 (polite but would they be food fussy?) We were seated in a cosy spot with a great server and it was uphill from that moment on. Our fruity adult drinks & warm house made bread put us in a good mood and away we went, selecting 5 appetizers to share. Each was presented artfully and uniquely delicious. The salads and entrees we chose did not duplicate within our group so we sampled a good portion of the nights offerings. What a total pleasure to see everyone scarf down their meal including the kids who it turns out appreciate a well prepared duck confit and fork tender halibut. Desserts were of the same delicious standard and at this point we knew anything we chose would hit the mark. We left grateful for the talents of Joshua and his team who gave us a memorable evening. Oh yes, I just reserved at the Sparhawk so we'll see you in October....it's Papa's birthday!

Comments: Congratulations for the excellent review in the 4/27/14 Maine Sunday Telegram. I don't know why you didn't get the full 5 stars when there wasn't a bad thing said about their experience at Joshua's. Stan Goldberg Wells

Comments: Joshua's: My wife and I dined at your establishment on January 29, 2013. The dinner itself was excellent, everything cooked to perfection. What took a fine dinner to a truly memorable dining experience was out server Tom...he was amazing, both professional and personable. We could tell he truly cared that the quality of our dinner was up to Joshua's standards and also that we truly enjoyed ourselves, which we absolutely did. Tom made our evening and if he is indicative of the quality of Joshua's staff, you will throughly enjoy your dining experience. Chris/Kevin Moynihan

Comments: Joshua's is an outstanding restaurant. The food is delicious and what Joshua does with the food is amazing. It is a quaint place and the service is excellent. We have eaten there many times and have never been disappointed. We believe it is the best restaurant in Southern Maine and know many people who feel the same way. The Beglanes Longmeadow, MA

Comments: In April we were staying at the Sparhawk and it was my birthday. We asked for a recommendation to a great area restaurant and Joshua's was suggested. That was our first experience of what is now our favorite Maine restaurant. We recently visited Maine for the Kennebunkport's Christmas Prelude and were fortunate to dine at your outstanding restaurant twice and have already made Valentine reservations! Thank you for your commitment to serving grest, healthy, delicious food. Mary Anne Ross

Comments: While in Wells recently I had dinner 3 times at Joshua's. As always a very pleasant experience and wonder food and presentation; service is always very good. I make the trip each year for fall color and a highlight is dining at Joshua's. The quality & service has remained top notch since my first visit-keep up the great work. I'm already thining about next year! Harry Watkins, Lake City, FL

Comments: We brought friends to experience Joshua's for the first time. They now know why we rave about the food and the wait staff. I'd ordered 2 loaves of bread to bring home, but neglected to bring them with me. I left a voice mail to let them know I'd be coming for them the next day. Showing their true first rate service once again, I was sent home, not with the bread I should have received from the day before, but with two warm loaves. We can't recommend Joshua's enough!!

Comments: I ate there on Friday night. Had the BEST haddock in my life! I'm from Chicago so haddock is rare here. Seriously, the best fish I've ever had. Will recommend to anyone going to the area!

Comments: WE've eaten there many times, and we live locally. Last night we had the usual wonderful mussels, swordfish, rack of lamb, and haddock. As usual, EVERYthing was wonderful, the swordfish was butter under the fork! So tender!! And the bread was to die for. Topping it off was the homemade ice cream. Thanks! Loved it! Comments: As a frequent visitor to Ogunquit, we were visiting this past May and decided to try Joshua's. The entrance with it's greenery and tiny white lights on the bushes was so appealing and just the beginning of a wonderful dining experience that I have since told all my friends about. Once inside, the lighting is low but not too low, and there are candles all around making it warm and inviting. The table that we sat at gave us a view of the kitchen and Joshua working his magic. Our waitress was so friendly and pleasant, we ordered our drinks and she returned with bread. Not just any bread but a nice foccacia with rosemary, I believe, and the most wonderful Annadama bread with molasses and walnuts. We then received our salad, a huge portion of fresh greens. We both ordered the filet. Well, it was the best filet I have ever had ever! It just literally melted in your mouth with a buttery consistency....out of this world. This was accompanied with fluffy mashed potatoes and a veggie medley that Joshua incorporated fiddle heads that he picked, a first for me, and delish. We ordered chocolate pie, his mother's recipe, sooooo good and topped with freshly whipped cream. This is casual elegance at it's best and our new favorite Maine restaurant. Thank you all for a wonderful evening, we will definately return again and again. Joyce Mueller & Bob Diliddo, Framingham, MA.

Comments: Though this past Friday was the first time we dined at Joshua's, it felt like we were returning to the home of a loved one we haven't seen in some time. It was familiar and comforting, Jen, our waitress, made us feel welcomed and appreciated. It was like Christmas for our taste buds - each bite revealing a new and delicious gift to savor and enjoy. Comments: It was a Friday evening, my last of three nights in Wells. How I wish it had been the first -- I would have gone back every night. I mistakenly read that Joshuas didnt take reservations. So I drove down, walked in and happily waited 20 minutes for a seat at the bar. It was worth every second of wait. From the friendly and helpful hostess, who I understand is mither if Joshua, to the attractive lady who served my food with a smile and much care, to two great bartenders, the staff was fantastic. The food was beyond excellent. Homemade bread, exquisite salad, wonderful haddock and fresh blueberry pie with homemade ice cream. WOW!! YOU ARE IN FOR A TREAT. Everything was great but I have to say that the fresh vegetables with the entree were unlike anything I have ever tasted. Call now or go there and wait for a chair. You will be glad you did!! Have always had the chicken (incredible!) but our fellow diners have had the fish, steak kabobs and many other items on the menu. All have been fantastic! Heading there this weekend JUST to go to dinner at Joshua's all the way from south shore of Boston! This place is not to be missed!

So glad I did - the place is very popular and we could see why - it was perfect! We so enjoyed ourselves that evening - even though the restaurant was very busy somehow we still felt special - the staff was exceptional and the food delicious. Thank you for a wonderful night. Comments: What a jewel by the sea you are! I've been traveling to Kennebunk every summer for years. We always used to head up to Portland for our special dinners. Now, if I were ever to stay in Portland, or anywhere else in a several hour radius, I would be driving to Wells for dinner. Your food is truly perfection - every plate, every time. The freshness of the food is always a given, but your creative sensational twists on each dish is what truly makes it. On our last trip, my father in law ordered the assorted mushrooms, even my husband who doesn't normally like mushrooms LOVED them. The mussels with blue cheese should probably be illegal they are so decadently delicious, and the fish was a flaky fantasy. Can't wait until we get back to Maine for another experience at your amazing restaurant! Thank you for being there! Kelli Phillips, Rockville, MD

Comments: We came last Saturday night for our first visit because of rave recommendations from a couple who bring their house guests to Joshua's. We were waiting on Saturday for the 5pm opening with four people who had dined several times with you and were coming back again(good sign). We took several of their recommendations for food and everything was outstanding. The wood grilled mushroom appetizer alone will make us come again. For entrees we had the chicken, the haddock and two of us ordered the filet. All entrees were perfect but we're neck craners(we like to peak at what others are ordering). The lamb looked fantastic(next time, next time). The wild blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream(both made by Joshua) was as good as the long ago memories of my mom's pie made from foraged wild blueberries(and I've never said that before. Comments: Coming from an Italian family with wonderful cooks all around including myself - I am not easily impressed with restaurants and the people in the kitchens called "chefs" today . Unfortunately the clowns on Food network have made that word mean making a fool of yourself on TV ! How absolutely refreshing it was to dine in a fine restaurant that has the warmth of someone's home and the staff to mirror the tasteful yet unpretentious surroundings AND foremost the namesake ACTUALLY cooking for his clientele!! We chose to dine at Joshua's 2 nights while in Wells and both nights were an experience in how to make a customer feel welcome from the greeting right through the "good nights" . Everything in between from cocktails in the bar prior to dinner ,onto our relaxed meal of 4 courses with wine right down to the aromatic coffee with our house churned icecream & warm from the oven maple walnut pie (ruby red rhubarb on night 2) had "We're glad you're here, looking forward to seeing you again" all over it ! This is a talented young man who hears the applause of a clean plate and does all he can to make sure that's what comes back to him because it's a sure sign of a job well done. No use in going on with what we had - it's ALLLL GOOOD and between the 2 of us had quite a sampling.Simple ingredients brought to a sublime level. So to Joshua, Barbara & Mort ( and Anne , our wonderful server both nights )"Glad we were there and soooo looking forward to mmmmany more meals in Wells at JOSHUA's". The CT. Foodie

We had appetizers, salads, dinners, and desserts. We had some special dietary needs and the waitress was very helpful with the selections. We all agreed that the food and service were phenomenal. We make sure to dine here each season to take advantage of the varied selection of exquisitely prepared dishes depending on the seasonal ingedients available. We are not vegetarians but several times we have selected a vegetatian friendly option and have always been happy we did. The specialty martini's prepared with fresh squeezed juices are a hit with us too! Looking forward to our visit in July. Dan, Diana, Paul and Lynda. Massachusetts

Comments: Joshua; I have not had the pleasure of eating at your restaurant, but I thought that I would write to you about the house. The house was in my family for 100 years. While we owned it it was used in the summer to exhibit and sell antiques. In the late 30's we moved into the house year round. I have some pictures of the original house. One interesting feature, that is missing, was an Elm tree that had a trunk that was large enough to accommodate a car. Dutch Elm Disease claimed it. I have read your reviews and am glad that caring people as yourselves have chosen this house for your restaurant. May you have a fruitful future. Bob Allan Portland, ME

Everything was perfect, the waitress was charming, and the service outstanding. I will call tomorrow to buy a gift certificate for our daughter's 10th anniversary later this month. She is a vegetarian & will so much appreciate the choices you offer. Her husband does eat fish(and occasionally meat). He will be equally impressed, I'm sure. Comments: Joshua, Wow! My family recently visited your restaurant for the first time and it's hard to find words to match what we feel was the best meal we had enjoyed in many years. From the buttermilk/herb salad dressing and fresh salad to the entrees to the homemade blueberry pie with homemade vanilla ice cream....it is so clear that every dish you serve is prepared with care and pride. We thank you for an amazingly delicious and healthy meal. We wish you much success! Bravo! Eric, Jennifer and Kiersten Nyquist

Comments: My wife and I literally JUST left your restaurant, and I couldn't wait to post our feedback on your website. The quality of food, and the care that obviously goes into the preperation of each dish, puts you head and shoulders above the dozens of tourist trap restaurants within 2 miles of your location. The entire experience at Joshua's was memorable, from the terrific bartender while we waited, to the pleasant waitress who served us; not to mention the food which was perfect from the first bite of appetizer, to the last mouthful of dessert. We will definetly return each time we are in Wells. Thank you again, Bill Graves, Ludlow, MA

Comments: This was our best meal in Ogunquit. I am not a salad lover but ordered one due to the farm-fresh produce. It was a wonderful salad with the tomato vinaigrette. I had the lamb, one daughter had the duck, and the other had the vegetarian entree which she raved about. The many veggies on the meat entrees were wonderful. And the desserts were marvelous! Thanks for a great meal. We'll be back. Marian Price, East Greenbush, NY

Comments: Chef, we fell in love with your food since our first meal several years ago. The service is always wonderful. What we really appreciate, however, is your thoughtful attitude toward your vegetarian entree. As the parent of a vegetarian, I am always on the lookout for something that is more than the ordinary entree or the "piece together" or the pasta primavera selections we often find surprisingly even in the best restaurants here and at home. In the last three years (that is the limit of my memory for meals), your offering has been incredibly inventive (and delicious) for my son's somewhat sophisticated palate. While tofu and mushrooms have their place, he prefers other selections and yours have always delighted. Thank you! Gale Heck-Rosenman Bryn Mawr, PA

Comments: Thank you for a wonderful meal last week. Joshua's was recommended to us right before we left for our annual week in Ogunquit and I can't believe we had never dined there before. We'll definitely be back as the food and service were both superlative. Thank you. Rob Canfield

Comments: What a wonderful place. We always love coming to Joshua's. It's the one place in the area where we have a consistently fabulous dinner. Too bad its so hard to get in, although we've been very lucky in the bar area, which I love. The staff is superb. Other restaurants should take a page out of your book!!!

Comments: We were directed by our B & B (Captain Lord Mansion in K'port) that we "had to go to Joshua's Restaurant" for a romantic dinner. I am so very happy that they were able to make a reserv. at your fabulous place! The food was second to none and the service was impeccable. We live in Central Maine and will come back down (a 2 hr. drive one way)just to visit your lovely bar area and dine on what is probably the BEST food we have eaten in a very long time! Comments: One of the best restaurants in the area. We live in York and your place was suggested to us by a co-worker. Our friends came with us. We all enjoyed our meals. We had a great time, great food, wonderful service and we will definitely be back and tell everyone we know what a great place Joshua's is. Thank you!

Comments: We just had to drop you a note and thank you for one of the best if not the best dinner while we were in Ogunquit 10/6/-10/11. First of all we were greeted by this Charming woman who escorted us to our seats. We then wer extremely lucky to have Jennifer, who was excellent and help guide us to make the right choices. She had such a fantastic personality, and knowledge to expertly explain the menu, so we were able to make the right choices for us. The food was far on par with any New York top dining spots, yet had the warm charm of our favorite vacation spot, Maine. I wish you all the very, and you can count us being back next year. Finally, we were a little premature but before we sat down for dinner we bought a gift certificate to Stuart from the Meadowmere, who has continually sent us to the best locations each visit to Maine. Joshua, you are an excelleant chef and there was nothing that was not done perfectly. thankyou for making our last dinner in Maine so memorable Lewis & Linda Duckman Long Island, New York lewisd820@aol.com

Comments: I recently spent a week in Wells and had the pleasure of dining at Joshua's 2 nights. Everything I had was exceptional and a great presentation. I would say it was one of the highlights of my trip. It is so nice to find a place that everything isn't "deep fried" with a mountain of fries on the side. I'm certainly looking forward to my next visit and some more fine dining-keep up the good work! Harry Watkins, Lake City, FL

Comments: Hi Josh, Any praise that could be lavished on a restaurant has already been given to Joshua's by your legion of fans. Count us among them. Our dinner there this past September was superb -- from ambience to food to staff. We loved every moment. But a quick question: do you share your recipes? Are you preparing a cookbook (I hope, I hope)? Rosemarie Anner Greenwich, CT

Comments: My husband and I had a fantastic meal with you last week during our vacation! I loved the simplicity of the dishes...not overly seasoned or sauced. You can taste every ingredient. I was also impressed by the passion required to bake bread when it's 90 degrees! I wish more chefs were committed to serving fresh, local foods prepared simply.

Comments: My wife and I visit this area of Maine 3-4 times a year looking for antiques and plan our day-trip accordingly so we end up at Joshua's for dinner. They have the freshest, tastiest dishes that will knock your socks off. Very creative and very friendly. Plan on relaxing because you will not be rushed...Ted & Linda McIntosh (Mass.)

Comments: Joshua, Barbara, and Mort. My husband Steven and I have been vacationing in Ogunquit,ME. for the past 18 years. We consider ourselves, lovers of good food, wine, and friends. Last Wednesday evening we had the great fortune at dining at your restaurant to celebrate the anniversary of our very dear friends. I grew up in a family were my mother cooked a wonderful meal every night so I am fortunate to have felt very nurtured by food for most of my life. I have to say that the meal we shared at your restaurant was wonderful and nurturing. Everything from beginning to end was perfect. We felt very comfortable in your dining room, and so very welcomed, by your staff. We were able to meet your dad; so gracious, coming out to our table. You could see the pride in his eyes when he spoke of your self trained capabilites. We will continue to recommend your restaurant to all of our friends and family who visit. Thank you for a wonderful and memorable dining experience. Sincerely, Michelle MacArthur

Comments: Hi Joshua and Family, My wife and I were visiting Kennebunkport Maine on vacation and were told we had to try your restaurant. We cam on June 2, 2009 and I am so glad that we did. This was the best meal I have ever had in my life!! Honestly, I had the pork and my wife had the chicken and we each thought ours were the most incredible dishes. The only bad thing is, you have spoiled my wife. After having your incredible ice cream, she will never be able to eat mint chocolate chip ice cream from the grocery store again. If you ever want to open a restaurant in North Carolina, let us know ;) Thank you for a great meal. Caleb & Courtney Baker, Mebane NC
