WoW!
"Daughters of Zion" is a powerful read!
Growing up in a strict religion and leaving it many years ago, I can relate so much to the undoing of "brainwashing".
A must read! |

Just finished your book, I have read Irene Spencers book and Carolyn Jessop book, and another one by a lady named Sophia while
she was in pologamy but she changed her name later. Anyways I am always interested in the books because Im always glad when
yall overcome it and find that one man who will love you and only you, because that's what we all deserve. So glad you ended
up finding a great man and having a great life with him. Have a wonderful life and thanks for sharing your story. |

Dear Irene,
I have not read your book but listened to many interviews relating to your life in polygamy. First let me tell you that you
have a beautiful family (i saw a picture of on this website). I would also like to thank you for opening my eyes about the
truth of mormonism and the horrors and abuse that go on in such communities. Finally,i would like to congratulate you for
having the courage to leave the community though your future was pretty grim considering you had no job and had to face raising
13 kids on your own. I hope that women will all unite to put an end to the abuse they suffer from men either in the name
of religions or just because it is men privilege, ego trip and lust to do so.

Just finished reading Daughters of Zion. Till this my only intro into polygamy has been watching Sister Wives on tv. Living
in the Northeast we are not as exposed to the religion and I am finding it both interesting and repulsive at the same time.
I applaud your willingness to share your life and pray that you will continue to live a happy and blessed life. |

I've just finished reading your book Daughter's of Zion. I also read Favorite Wife (Escape from Polygamy.) I truly enjoyed
your book. I am so glad you had the insight not to become a wife of a polygamist. I certainly find the stories of the women
very interesting. I also enjoy watching "Sister Wives," although I know that's a different situation. I look forward to browsing
your website! |

I have just finished your book. While I was not raised in a polygamous cult, some of my upbringing in a Christian movement
is similar. Your book shows how a little religious fervor can go so wrong and forever change the lives of many. |

Just finished your book and recently read Susan's (Verlan's wife's) book, too. I have read several other books written by
women who escaped the FLDS church as well. I feel so sorry for the wives and children involved and just a deep sense of burden
over the supression of the truth. If only these women knew how Jesus really feels about them and how He wants to set them
free. I read your book with one main thought in mind and it was to pray for those who are still involved, especially those
in the FLDS church. Thanks for sharing your story.
PS-I was very happy to find out from your story (and Susan's) that so many who left polygamy found Christ! |

I am not nor have ever been in a polygamous relationship.
Thirty nine years of marriage to one man, and he to one wife (me), have been very rewarding.
I find it hard to understand how or why a woman would allow herself to be subjected to being part of a crowd. Are these wives
that submissive?
Not seeking: just questioning.
Sorry if this could be offensive to anyone-- It just mystifies me. |

Is script writing a possible next step? I really think a movie could/should be made of a story like this. Although it would
be an "educational" endeavor, if you're the one who does it, you can shape what you see as the most significant message, before
another comes along to take it in their own direction. |

Ron have kept your marriage not only intact but a blessing to both of you and now to all of us! The words that you share on
this site will bless generation after generation. In the past my heart was grieved over the heritage that was being passed
down in your family, now, by God's Grace and Mercy, you are passing down a Christian heritage to your family. I am truly
blessed by your words! Keep it up.. I love you all... May God use you in mighty ways to accomplish His Will! |
