Comments: When we think of you Marty we can't believe you are gone from us and that's it's been a year now. We play your music often and it brings us so much pleasure. We have some many wonderful memories of our good times with you. When you worked with Bob at Hughes Tool Co. so many years ago we had no idea we would become good friends and that you would bring so much joy into our lives through you music and your wonderful personality. Through you we also met Dorris, your ex-wife, and she has been such a continued blessing in our lives. We truly wish there was some way that your music could be shared will all the world and that there was some memorial somewhere in your honor and some place we could go to pay our respects to you on special occasions. We know your wonderful music is now delighting the angels in heaven. God Bless you friend, we miss you. Bob and Mary Meyers

Comments: I loved Marty. We learned how to play together, me David Madden, Frank Scalise and Marty. Hard to believe he's gone. My favorite memory of Marty is a recollection of a rehearsal at Frankie's house. We were working out a tune. He didn't even have a sax then, he was playing rock and roll on a clarinet. "What key are we in?" He asked. "E", I responded, not knowing that the clarinet is a Bb instrument. We nearly came to blows before we figured out what was going on. Great memories, great guy, wonderful player. The last thing he said to me, a few days before he died was "I love you!" Miss you Marty! I Love you, too.

Comments: THIS IS COUSIN JOE ( BROTHER )SCALISE AND I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT IT IS COMING UP ON A YEAR SINCE WE LOST THE BADDEST SAX PLAYER IN HOUSTON AND POSSIBLY TEXAS. COUSIN MARTY AND I WERE PROBABLY THE CLOSEST OF COUSIN'S ( WE WERE ALL CLOSE ) AND SO MANY TIME'S HE WOULD TRY TO EXPLAIN CERTAIN THING'S TO ME, ( HIM BEING THE OLDER COUSIN ) AND I WOULD JUST IGNORE WHATEVER HE WAS SAYING AT THE TIME BUT AS THE YEARS PASSED US BY AND I FELL INTO MUSIC AS A SINGER THAT CHANGED WITH " BIG CUZ " CAUSE EVERY TIME MARTY WOULD SUGGEST SOMETHING OR SOMEONE AND OR EXPLAIN HOW CERTAIN THING'S IN THE MUSIC BUISNESS WORKED, LET ME TELL YA I WAS ALL EAR'S AND I TOOK NOTES WHEN THE SAX MAN SPOKE, CAUSE CUZ NEW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT AND I DO MISS HIM SO. I HAVE ALL HIS MUSIC AND I PLAY IT WHENEVER I THINK OF HIM WHICH IS ALOT AND I LIKE MANY OF HIS FELLOW MUCICIANS HAVE TO WONDER WHERE THE BUISNESS WAS TAKEING HIM AND WHERE HE COULD HAVE GONE AND HOW FAR BECAUSE HE WAS SO CLOSE TO HIS DREAM. WELL " CUZ " ONLY THE GOOD LORD KNOWS AND WE WILL JUST HAVE TO TRUST HIS WILL AND KEEP ON ENJOYING WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN BRINGING TO US ALLL THESE MANY YEARS,THE BEST IN TENOR JAZZ SAX, ALONG WITH SOME VERY ENJOYABLE COUNTRY SAX AS WELL.MAY GOD BLESS YOU "CUZIN MARTY" AND KEEP THE NOTES HIGH AND SWEET FOR ALL THE HEAVEN'S TO HEAR AND WE'LL JUST KEEP PLAYING YOUR MUSIC AS LONG AS WE CAN WITH NOTHING BUT BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES. " CUZIN JOE
