The meeting will be held at the Martin Luther King Center, 627 N. 3rd street, Muskogee,OK. Advocate Wayne Thompson and Descendants President Marilyn Vann will update attendants on the recent Appeals Court ruling on the Vann Federal lawsuit. Genealogy "tips" will be given by Descsndants VP Ron Graham. An official from the Muskogee NAACP will also address meeting attendants. The meeting is free and open to the general public. Comments:	Clayton, I was not aware of my ancestors in the Creek Nation in 1979 or other nations. I was only told about the Dawes rolls in the 80's and that's when I got involved in genealogy. I was separated from my relatives in Muskogee at an early age.

Comments:	Hensci All, Can anyone arrange a meeting with Sen. Obama, whereby, the plight of the Freedman's injustices can be addressed. It appears that there is a lack of knowledge concerning the obvious violations of the 1866 treaty. Sen. Obama is not the decendant of slaves owned by Indians and therefore he does not have the same passion for correctiong the ills perpretrated against us as Freedmans. It would be positive if we could communicate directly to him out concerns without fanfare.

Certainly not news to America by now, it does give stats on how the heavily Native voting areas of the midwest supported the senator. In proclaiming his message that he is all about change, we can hope (and shall see) if the saga of the Freedmen will become part of those changes. Comments:	What? Name a conference where lunch is provided. I have been to hundreds and NEVER was my food provided unless I paid for a lunch ticket to attend. But beyond that, we have to pay for Ms Watson and her staff to fly out and their stay in a hotel, etc..etc....add that up! Add up the cost of printed material, add up the cost of postage, add up the cost for the venue, keep adding and you will find that the fee to attend the conference hardly comes up to amount that it cost to put this thing on. Thank God for a few donors who are contributing large donations to help us. But its never been about the money, its been about getting information out to the public. I can list a number of things that the association has done and currently doing including two very expensive lawsuits. Not to mention the fact that we carried our own expense to DC several times...etc etc.....what the hell are you doing? It bites my azs when people complain about others when in reality they should be setting in a mirror asking what am I doing for the cause. One more thing....there are plenty of places for lunch around the conference. There will however be a fundraiser dinner for the Congresswoman that night. I hope you attend to give to her re-election campaign.

Congress started this mess and now is not the time to be "politically correct" and let the those in power continue to abuse the civil rights of their citizens. Let's be real. Those in power will not concede power. In other words former citizens of African Native heritage will not get their rights and liberties restored until Congress upholds the treaty of 1866. Mvto

I am looking for a old document of Chief Porter complaining to the Senate about the use of the JW Dunn roll, he thought it was unfair and several thousand Creek freedmen would not be able to enroll for allotment if the Senate forced the JW Dunn roll on the Creek Nation.

Comments:	Okay Eli, I'll say it this way, when a Creek woman (by blood) had children whether married or not to whomever, she and her children were placed on the by blood roll. A black woman and her mixed blood children were placed on the freedmen roll. Apparently, the law was that the children always follow the mother on the freedmen or by blood roll. Okay, I'm done. Comments:	Thats because they followed the Freedmen mother. On the by blood rolls you will find just the opposite. Freedmen fathers with children placed on the by blood rolls. A very complex system...per maddness....

Comments:	Hello Eli, the different families that I have researched where the father was a by blood always the children were placed on the freedmen roll. Although families may have been found on the Dunn Roll, the children followed the mother. If a Creek woman had children by a freedman the whole family would be placed on the by blood roll.

Comments:	Hi Norma, The placing of the Creek Freedmen on separate rolls was not just about the person having African ancestry. Nearly a quarter of the blood rolls are people of African descent. The dirt is found in an act of Congress. Congress required that if any one is found on the JW Dunn roll, that person and all his/her descendants are to be placed on the Creek Freedmen rolls. One exception to this rule was when a Creek freedmen man was married to a Creek by blood woman, then the children would follow her on the blood rolls. All part of Jim Crow maddness...

Comments:	In my research I am noticing always that a freedmen can be a mixed blood, but if his mother was considered a freedmen, that mixed blood freedmen was placed on the FREEDMEN roll because of African descent. Sometimes though there may be reference from a relative on the by blood roll stating the relationship to that freedmen, but not always the case.

Comments:	hello, creek freedman. i got the file down loaded. not sure what i saw. a couple of "louisa`s" was there. i know she claimed to be a widow. i am going to try and compare some of the data and see if this indeed my grand mother(3). i dont know for sure how many times she was married. thanks for telling me to give it time. it taken about 27 mins.

Comments:	Mary, I was refering to YOUR birth certificate first, connecting YOU to a family member (ancestor) on the Creek rolls, so you would be considered a direct descendant. I have my birth certifcate and my mother's birth certificate that states my grandmother's parents and her date of birth. My grandmother's father is on the Creek freedmen roll. I am a direct descendant of AN ancestor that has a roll number in the Creek nation. You misunderstood me. I understand about birth certificates. I had to get a delayed birth certificate for my father. His father (my grandfather) is on the Chickasaw freedmen roll, so I had to make the connections, first starting with my birth certificate. I've figured out my bloodline if nothing else.
