Its a great pleasure to write on this page. Because of Sri Chitti Babu Ji i started learning the divine instrument veena at
this age (33). (I hope there is no age limit to learn any art). My Father in law's(FIL)K.V. Sampath brother K.V. Gopalan is
a student of him and he visited our house many times in T.Nagar and in fact his sister wedding reception is adorned by his
concert. since then my FIL is very craze on him and some how he want to be with the music always. Because of this i think
he pushed me to learn and slowly i too getting into this world of magical divine. Now iam feeling very proud to be a part
in this journey of musical world. My only request! at least once is it possible to see and touch the VEENA which is played
by him itself great blessing for me??????????? |

Very nice website. He was a hero for me, my elder sister and my brother. Once we had the blessing to hear him performing in
Raja Annamalai Mandram, Chennai. We could be accommodated only on the stage on the side. During his concert (I think it was
thanam in Karahapriya), suddenly one of the strings got broken. Without being perturbed, in 3 minutes he put a new string.
He was prepared for such an eventuality. He was composed during the entire period. After the 3 hr concert he just got up without
any pain in the leg or cramps. Professional to the core. What a wonderful person. He was so handsome as well. Perhaps it was
the inner beauty of his soul which got reflected that way.
Only wish he had lived much longer.
Thank you sir for this wonderful website.

We went to India in December 2010. My son was 18 years old and was learning veena for 5 years and he was absolutely fascinated
with the way Chitti babu played Veena. Before we left for India we came to know that a person we knew had good relations with
Chitti babu family. He arranged for us to visit Chitti babu's house in Chennai.
We went and met Chitti babu's wife Sudha garu and his youngest son.
We expected to spend 10 Minutes and we were there for more than 2 hours !. My son played songs on one Veena of Chitti babu.
Sudha garu even made coffee for us.
We had an excellent time, which we will remember forever.
We were very sad when we came to know that Sudha garu passed away a few months later. |

I have heard Chittibabu when I was 7 years old. His concerts in Shanmukhananda Sabha, bombay were mesmerising. Nobody moved

The Veena was always resplendent, however only to those who realize that. In the years when it's untainted glory was not respectfully
acknowledged by the world, Dr Chittibabu (also incidentally my indirect Guru in the Veena!) had revived it's Meaning and Divinity,
with such versatility (Songs such as 'Kommalo Koila 'Koo' Annadhi', and Unbelievable Western tunes, which a conventional person
wouldn't expect from such an instrument) and his unique playing style His Talam would add a royal finish to his already grand
playing!, like his Raghuvamsha Sudha, or his Pathos filled Jagadhodharana, Pancha Ratna Kritis, Quick-Paced Wedding Bells,
to further include his own compositions! At the Mention of Veena, The first image that strikes is that of CHittibabu in his
grand, White Kurta, Playing his Veena with a gentle and Humble smile. God Bless Him, and God Bless Those who know that there
was such a Person.

Sri Chittibabu has always been my 'Manasa guru'. I was inspired to learn Veena after I heard him in one of the concerts in
Bangalore in the 70s.Though i'm a dotor by profession, now settled in the UK, he is still very fresh in my memory. My only
regret is (like many others) is,I could not learn from him. Despite my busy schedule as a doctor in the UK, I still offer
my prayers to my guru whenever I practice. May his soul rest in peace and his divine grace bestow us. |

Oct/13/2013: Very happy to remember Dr. Chittibabu garu on his birthday. Whenever I listen to his music, I get transformed
to a different world. I cannot explain it with words. It is a divine experience. I have not got trained formally in music.
I have attended his concert only twice, first in 1971 in Pattukkottai near Thanjavur. In that small town, there were hundreds
of people, laymen like me, enjoying his music when he played in a marriage in a landlord's family. Next, in 1990, in Hyderabad
organized by the Dept of Culture for Navaratri. His train was delayed by 10 hours! He came straight to the auditorium from
the Railway Station and started playing the veena! God is greedy to listen to his music all by Himself. :)

During my childhood, I was a regular listener of Vainika Chttibabu veena over AIR Bangalore. I cannot forget sudhamayee, and
the swarakakali which he played with Pandith Ravishankar in the UN. They are still ringing in my ears. I have also attended
his kacheris in Bangalore, Sheshadripuram high school. I never knew Vainika's passing away. He and his veena were both handsome. |

Wonderful website. Keeps the momories of the maestro so alive.
I have heard so many of his concerts, he brought life to the sacred instrument of Veena. In fact, i would wait and wait for
his rendering of Vedam, which was always played last. That ending had a very nostalgic effect on me, so he gets remembered
every time vedas get referenced.

I remember listening to the great maestro's music at the Subbarao's Ramanavami festival in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu as a kid.
Truly amazing times. Years have gone by and I am in Canada now. I was trying to see if I can download any of maestro's music

It is nice information about Sri Chittibabu Garu. My uncle Sri Katravulapalli Veerabhardara Rao used accompany Sri Chittibau
as Mridangam artist. I had life chance of touching feet of Sri Chittibabu when he visited our house at Narsapuram, WG Dt.
AP. I was a teenager at that time and remember pleasant personality and regarded our family member as Saraswati Putrulu
himself. I had rare opportunity to touch Sri Chittibabu Gari feet during the visit to our house. Since then I became fan
of Sri Chittibabu Garu. I have just few of the several our his recordings his priceless music and often
listen then. Recently I digitized audio cassettes to mp3 so that I won't lose the cassettes. If any one has more collections
and want to share with me, please let me know.
Even Sri Chittibabu Garu not there among us, he is alive and among us via his priceless music.

I remember the first time I chanced upon listening to the recital of Dr. Chitti Babu on AIR in the late sixties. I was instantly
impressed at the gentleness and smoothness of the naada of his veena. I hadn't come across another so tender. Haven't yet
come across another that is so tener. Subsequent renderings that I listened only further reinforced that impression, and I
became one of the countless who adore his music. His recorded music is a collector's delight. He died a bodily death but he
lives in my heart always. |

I was/am an ardent fan of Dr. Chitti Babu. I was always amazed to listen to him. I met him personally at his residence at
Kakinada in 1975 and I was astonished for his simplicity and informal way of receiving a fan.
I identify his playing of veena just listening to a few beats.
I have little knowledge of music. God gave the ears to listen the music only.
I had most of his LP albums which have become now unusable. But I preserved those records in my computer and CDs. |

to the best of your ability for posterity. I have no knowledge/background in Carnatic Music. But hearing your father play
veena makes me cry from my soul. I am sad that when I was young living in T.Nagar I missed an opportunity to place my head
at his feet. You are so blessed and virtuous to have such a musical genius as your father. One must thank technology for leaving
us with a veritable treasure of his works. In spite of being unconnected to him I miss him so much in physical form I can
